  • Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (Second Thursday of February to first Saturday of March annually). Annual LGBTQIA+ pride parade and festival inaugurated on 24 June 1978. The parade has been held in February-March since 1981. The 2026 parade was held on 28 February 2026.
  • Vivid Sydney (Late May to mid-June (2026: 22 May to 13 June)). The Southern Hemisphere's largest multi-artform festival, featuring a 6.5 km light walk along Sydney Harbour foreshore, plus music, ideas, and food programs. Dates confirmed by Destination NSW.
  • Sydney New Year's Eve Fireworks (31 December annually). One of the world's most-watched New Year celebrations. Two fireworks displays (9 pm family show and midnight display) launched from Sydney Harbour Bridge and barges, drawing an estimated 1.5 million in-person spectators.
